Day 35 Complete

Day 35 of the 100 Days of SwiftUI challenge is a review and app development task where we are given the challenge of developing a multiplication app from scratch.

I’ve completed all the review reading content and now after working on the app for about an hour now I can see that it’s really starting to take shape functionally and I can see how it will work. I thought hard about how this might work and took Pauls advise and started with something simple and functional, even if the original layout and fields (and even variable names) were not going to be kept, it helped to break the ice, build confidence and get the process and creativity working. After the initial layout was working I’ve added a separate view for the (multiplication) game itself and the initial view just sets up the parameters that the player uses. I’ve really enjoyed this process. I intend upon finishing the app over the next day or two, as I get time. For now I consider this a success in that I have learned alot from the process and can move on with other learning content while finishing the app in the background.

It’s actually fun to have an app to tinker with in the background anyway. Once the app is functionally complete, I’d like to play with animations and design and see how nicely I can design the app. It’s a nice distraction to work on in the background.

The other side of this is sitting here with my headphones on, shutting out the noise and distractions of the world and just focussing productively upon a task while listening to some great background music. I find it very relaxing and rewarding.
